In the next weeks, Microsoft’s OneDrive cloud storage service will receive a number of updates, including a new mobile app, colored folders in File Explorer, and enhanced search capabilities. All Microsoft commercial clients will now have access to Copilot in OneDrive as of right now.

“Our improved search experience is a game-changer” says Jason Moore, vice president of product for OneDrive. “With new filter controls and more detailed results, find the exact file or folder faster and easier—whether it’s stored in your OneDrive, a shared library, or a folder from a teammate.” By the end of 2024, OneDrive business clients will be able to access this search upgrade, which is now being rolled out.

Microsoft is also making it easy to import photos from other cloud providers with the OneDrive mobile app. You may import photos, videos, and documents from Google Drive, Google photographs, and Dropbox. The new OneDrive mobile app is already available for Android users, and in November, an iOS version will follow.

Today marks the debut of Copilot for all commercial users within OneDrive. OneDrive will soon support Copilot Agents, allowing you to have a personalized AI helper for all of your folder needs. The most recent OneDrive updates were made a year after Microsoft hosted a comparable event for its cloud storage service the previous year. Over the past year, Microsoft has added folder colors, AI-powered Copilot features, a refresh to the Fluent design, and the ability to favorite OneDrive files.

Microsoft is reportedly contemplating significant changes to OneDrive in the future. Updates to the photo experience are coming to all platforms – PC, web, and macOS.

In the future, OneDrive will also integrate Microsoft Designer, enabling users to swiftly and simply edit photos. Personalized views, which automatically organize your files and photographs based on situations, hobbies, or collections, are another one of OneDrive’s upcoming AI capabilities.
