Despite having “modern” operating systems, both versions appear trapped in a minimalist rut, with flat, dreary icons and uninspired color palettes that feel more like placeholders than meaningful visual upgrades. Microsoft’s attempts at a “clean” design can come across as antiseptic and soulless, leaving customers missing the richness and personality found in earlier versions such as Windows 7.
