At $479, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is incredibly affordable for the performance it offers but it needs a X870 motherboard. It has officially surpassed the Ryzen 7 7800X3D as the fastest gaming CPU on the planet.
Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming demand, the processor quickly ran out of stock at major online and offline shops, including Amazon. As a result, the only option to obtain a unit is to pay an exorbitant price, currently $699.99. Although paying more is never justified, this is the reality of our world.
Fortunately, we also live in a time when other PC components, including motherboards, frequently have discounts. The 9800X3D can be installed with ease thanks to the X870 chipset, which eliminates the need for a BIOS update, which is necessary for previous-generation boards in order to get the CPU working. We have three models from three different companies: ASUS PRO X870-P WIFI, GIGABYTE’s X870 Eagle WIFI7, and MSI’s PRO X870-P WIFI. The best part is that these X870 motherboards will not significantly increase the total.
Unless you want to create those portable but incredibly powerful mini-ITX configurations, all three of them support the conventional ATX form factor, so in terms of size, these will be compatible in most circumstances.
We advise purchasing the GIGABYTE X870 Eagle WIFI7, which retails for $229.99 and has all the features you would anticipate from a high-end motherboard, if you want to save the most money. Furthermore, we have included this model because it supports the most recent Wi-Fi 7 standard and only differs by $10 from the Wi-Fi 6 version.
With the addition of a few connectors here and there, the MSI PRO X870-P WIFI, which retails for $239.99, has essentially the same characteristics as the GIGABYTE X870 Eagle WIFI7. Due to ASUS’s reputation for charging more for its parts, the PRO X870-P WIFI is the most costly variant, costing $249.99.
Price differences are now so negligible that brand preference is the only determining factor. Since ASUS is a multinational company with a significant presence in many different countries, most customers would choose it.
However, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D will still provide amazing gaming performance when compared to the competition if you do not have the desire to get the newest and best hardware. When assessing your budget, bear in mind that the motherboards that are compatible with the 7800X3D are far less expensive than the more recent X870 models. This is the main benefit.
