The business introduced the Arrow Lake dubbed Intel Core Ultra 200S family desktop processors on Thursday. This is the chip manufacturer’s first desktop product including a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU). These chipsets are also going to be the first from Intel to power AI PCs, with a claimed performance of 36 trillion operations per second (TOPS). In addition to enhanced performance through the NPU, the company reported notable improvements to the CPU and GPU. Starting on October 24, OEM partner systems, retail locations, and internet retailers will carry the Intel Core Ultra 200S processors.
Intel Core Ultra 200S Series Launched
The IT giant described the newest chips in a news statement. The Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 285K, along with five other desktop processors, leads the Intel Core Ultra 200S processor family. These all have a maximum of 16 efficient cores (E-cores) and eight performance cores (P-cores). According to the manufacturer, the new PC architecture outperforms the previous generation by up to 6% in single-threaded tasks and 14% in multi-threaded workloads. Additionally, the chips have an integrated Iris Xe GPU.
According to Intel, the Arrow Lake CPUs are designed with power efficiency in mind. They can operate daily apps with up to 58 percent less package power and require up to 165W less system power when gaming.
The specialized system that comes to the NPU provides hardware-accelerated AI capabilities. The business stated that the CPUs offer up to 36 TOPS of performance, but it did not disclose the architecture. Additionally, according to the chip manufacturer, the Core Ultra 200S family can outperform rival processors in AI-enabled creative applications by up to 50%.
The desktop CPUs in the Intel Core Ultra 200S series are compatible with up to 24 PCIe 4.0 lanes, eight SATA 3.0 connections, and ten USB 3.2 ports for connectivity. They also feature Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, and two integrated Thunderbolt 4 connectors.
